She reminded the supervisors that they needed to start looking for another piece of property to purchase for a middle school.
Teacher Helen LaCava said the superintendent’s budget is “the best example of fiscal responsibility.” She said all the staff had been involved in finding ways to cut the budget. “We all had to prioritize our needs and wishes for next year.”
Mrs. LaCava said, -“Despite the fact that things are tough, there is an enormous sense of optimism in Rappahannock.” She cited the new library and plans for new churches as evidence that “people are optimistic about Rappahannock. We do the best we can,” she said. ‘We’re going more than that.”
Elementary school assistant principal Raye Tucker said she was speaking as a former student in the school system and as a parent of children who would be graduating in 16 and 18 years. She said she and her husband had found “There’s been nothing but improvement since we graduated. We are gratified by the improvement in 15 years and thank you for your role in that.”
