The new plan also makes Fauquier County whole again in the senate. Fauquier had been split into three districts that extended from Interstate 81 to the Chesapeake Bay under a plan that was vetoed by Gov. Wilder two weeks ago.
The new plan also removes one of two new Senate districts created in Northern Virginia in the plan vetoed by Gov. Wilder, a fact that has Northern Virginia legislators angry.
The issue is the population in each district. The plan adopted yesterday puts many Northern Virginia districts right at the limit of population extremes allowed by the courts.
