John Conry Jr., 48, was named Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer by the directors of Rappahannock National Bank this week.
Mr. Corny, a career banker who most recently was vice president of CorEast Savings Bank in Richmond, began work in Washington last Tuesday.
He said that the Rappahannock National Bank job was just what he was looking for: an independent, community bank.
“It’s a very community-oriented bank. It’s goals are to serve the people of the Rappahannock County area and the directors believe very strongly in that philosophy.
He has been a banker for 25 years, many of them “in a community bank environment.”
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a banking and investment rmyor from Kent State University. In 1975 Mr. Conry received the professional designation Certified Commercial Lender, and he attended the American Bankers Association’s commercial lendinggraduate school at Oklahoma University.
Local banks, said Mr. Conry, “can serve the local constituency better. We take the people’s depos* its and loan it out locally. ”
