The Foothills Travel Association of Virginia (FTA) will hold a seminar, “Communicating Through Public Relations,” aimed at helping participants position and market their products and services, in Washington, Va. May 22.

The seminar will be conducted by communications consultant Michelle Hartz, senior vice president at Burson-Marsteller, a leading international public relations company. It is scheduled for two hours, starting at 4 p.m., in the Theatre at Washington, Va.

“This area has so much to offer visitors. In addition to its natural beauty, we have a thriving arts community and offer wonderful country hospitality. It’s time to learn more about how to get the word out to a larger audience,” said Nancy Thomasson, FTA board member.

The seminar will focus on product/service “positioning,” media relations, special events, partnership building and direct mail. Participants will receive a detailed “howto” kit to enable them to target and personalize their efforts.
