Dinosaur tours available
at Culpeper quarry site The Virginia Museum of Natural History will again conduct tours of the dinosaur tracks in the Culpeper Stone Quarry on weekends in May and early June. Groups and individuals wanting to take the tours must make reservations in advance by calling the Martinsville museum 703-666-8600. There is a fee for the tour. Children under six years old are not allowed on the tours. More than 2,000 tracks preserved in stone have been uncovered 300 feet deep in the quarry. Scientists believe the tracks are more than 210 million years old. Access to the site is usually restricted, but tours are being allowed for a limited time.
