The 41-year-old runner finished his first, course on the Fodderstack Road in 37:17.
“I’ve been running for a long time,” he said, adding in other years, races in Charlottesville have prevented his participation in this race.
“I really enjoyed it,” he said.
Finishing just seconds behind Day was Annapolis’s Mike van Beuren, with a time of 37:37. “This is the first time I’ve ever done this course,” he said.
“It’s fantastic. It’s one of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever run,” the 38-year-old avid runner said, adding he has participated in runs from East to West coasts, in Bermuda and in several well-known marathons.
