In the current budget the county has been offering employees $1,754 for health insurance. That pays for a single subscriber’s premium. Next year that amount will go to $2,004.
This year the school system is offering employees $1,017 for health insurance. With the 10 percent increase that will go to $1,119. However, the premium for a single subscriber is now $1,454, and it is expected to go to $1,657 next year.
The supervisors finished the meeting with a work session on the budgets of constitutional officers. They were to meet again this Wednesday to adopt the school budget and hold a work session on the budgets of other agencies.
Jackson District representative Ellis Bingham said he only questioned the need to give master’s degree supplements for principals and higher administration when the degree is required for the jobs.
