The Lions Club is a group of community-minded men and women who pool our talents in behalf of local' needs. We attend meetings, determine how we may best aid our communities, and implement a variety of service programs. We may concentrate on helping an individual or a family; often spearhead communitywide programs involving the support and participation of local citizens; and help support relief projects undertaken by fellow Lions in different parts of the world.
Rappahannock Lions Club is one of some 30,000 clubs organized as Lions International and is the world’s largest service club organization, the first ever to have achieved one million members. Lions Clubs participate in service efforts spanning the globe.
Rappahannock Lions Clubs assistance in Rappahannock County this fiscal year (1990-91) will exceed $7,800 in the following areas of services: sight and hearing, $1,000; seventh grade field trip, $260; Rappahannock Atheltic Association, $600; Bland Contest, $300; senior citizens, $500; Thanksgiving and Christmas (aid to the less fortunate), $600; Rappahannock County High School scholarships, $600; six local fire and rescue organizations, $1,800; Camp Fantastic, $200.
