In commemoration of the 128th anniversary of the Battle of Brandy Station, the Brandy Station Foundation announces a “Living History Weekend,” to be held on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, in Brandy Station.
The Battle of Brandy Station, fought on June 9, 1863, marked the opening of the Gettysburg Campaign and was the largest cavalry battle in North American history. Some 20,000 troops were involved in this day-long battle, which saw Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart recover from the initial shock of a Union surprise attack to eventually win the field.
