Warning issued

Commonwealth Attorney Peter Luke warns residents of Rappahannock County to be on the alert as to persons who may come to their homes trying to sell asphalt paving. At least two county residents have been recent victims of schemes in which people appeared at their doors trying to sell asphalt supposedly left over from other paving jobs. In these cases the asphalt purchased was of poor quality, not properly applied and the charge was excessive. For more information or any person who has been victimized may call the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney at 675-3318.

Perot petition committee

United We Stand, the Perot Petition Committee-Virginia (formerly Virginians for Perot) are caucusing to hold formal elections for a county chairperson at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17 at the Rappahannock Library. Formal elections for a district chairperson are to be held in Warrenton on Thursday, Aug. 20, time and place to be announced at Monday’s meeting.

Hunter safety course

A hunter safety course will be held 16 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 30 at Castleton fire hall. All persons ages 12-15 must have this course in order to purchase a license and also for first time license holders. To register or for more information call 9375192.
