The Authority had an answering machine put on the telephone in the plant so lab reports could be reported sooner. Mr. Johnson added that this had not solved the problem since a discharge monitoring report he signed on the 8th of one month did not reach the SWCB until the 31st.
Mr. Swindler reported that he had been able to find suppliers for the main chemicals used at the plant who can provide the chemicals for less than the Authority has been paying. The WSA has been paying $125 for a bucket of dechlorination tablets. Mr. Swindler said he would be able to get them for $100 per bucket. Even at that lower price, they will cost $12,000 per year, he noted.
