Catherine Powers
Catherine Long Powers, 68, of Flint Hill, died Saturday, Aug. 8 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 11 in Orlean Cemetery by the Rev. Phillip Johnson.
Mrs. Powers was bom Sept. 26, 1923, in Page County, the daughter of the late Walter N. and Ossie Good long. She was the wife of the late John H. Powers.
Surviving are two sons, John H. Powers and George E. Powers, both of Flint Hill; one brother, Benjamin F. Long of Northern California and one granddaughter.
Royston Funeral Home in Marshall was in charge of the arrangements.
Donald Romine
Donald Lee Romine, 67, of Arlington, died Sunday, Aug, 9 at his Castleton address.
After high school he managed the Castleton farm of Ralph Ingersoll (of Time/Life). He started his work in government with the National Security Council, under the White House. Mr. Romine had worked in the Peace Corps for 20 years since its inception in 1961. In 1987 he retired as Director of Planning at the Volunteer Agency, ACTION.
Mr. Romine is survived by his wife, Georgia Romine of Arlington; three sons, Donald K. Romine of Madison, Geoffrey Romine and David Romine, both of Arlington and one daughter, Tsahai Romine of Arlington. He is also survived by a brother, Dolen G. Romine of Castleton and a sister, Doris Settle of Culpeper. Additional survivors include two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Found and Sons Funeral Home in Culpeper. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
