“Anyone who uses microfilm or a great archive of paper could use this program,” Dr. Jamison said, adding that one 12 inch disk could save 40 thousands pages of information.
The program allows doctors to scan written information about a patient, prescriptions, x-rays or other material all on one disk for easy access and referral. It allows insurance brokers to keep files, written or typed, diagrams, forms and other items “stapled” together on one file.
“Anything on paper you can scan and keep, from maps to insurance forms,” Mr. Landrum said, showing a topographical map scanned onto the huge Macintosh screen.
“It’s projected to the billion dollar industry,” of the future, Dr. Jamison said with pride.
The “Optix” idea stems from Dr. Jamison’s and Mr. Landrum’s previous work experience.
