will be flying or coming in campers with their dogs from Arizona, Montana, Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, Maine and Canada. Entries for all classes have been full since rpid February.
There are two one-day open trials on Saturday and Sunday, staring at 7:30 a.m., with 66 dogs each day:. There will be prizes each day and prizes for the highest combined scores. At 1 p.m. on Friday 20 open ranch dogs will run a slightly modified course, followed by 10 United States Border Collie Handlers Association Nursery dogs. The trial is open to all breeds but Border Collies are the only dogs that have the skill and instinct to negotiate the difficult course.
Blue Ridge is the first trail in the Triple Crown of Virginia trials, followed on May 11-14 by the Joy Seclusival trial in Shipman, and the Oatlands trial in Leesburg on May 15 and 16.
The Boyce Volunteer Fire Company will have a food stand with food and soft drinks and will do a barbecue beef supper, open to all at $8, on Saturday night on the grounds.
Admission is $3 and spectators should bring their own chairs.
