Belle Grove
Herb Day
Belle Grove Plantation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation house museum located one mile south of Middletown will offer a “Belle Grove Herb Day” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 29.
Herbs just aren’t for ladies! Real men use herbs too! If you can convince the man in your life who may or may not cook, who occasionally digs in the garden to come, please bring him along! Of course you can take copious notes and share your knowledge after our workshop! Many of us use herbs in our cooking to enhance the flavor of a particular dish. Others use herbs as a substitute for what they aren’t allowed to eat; one example might be a salt substitute! Herbs have been used in medicines! Just go to your local health food store and look at the shelves!
During the morning session, students will learn about what an herb is, where and how to grow herbs and have a slide presentation. The afternoon session will include demonstrations on what to do with herbs in cooking, drying, and gifts. A luncheon consisting of cold herb soup, croutons, chicken salad, herb bread with rose geranium cake for dessert will be served between the two sessions.
The workshop will be taught by
