Unfortunately, wet sanding is susually a bit more time-consuming than conventional sanding and is usually only practical for small repairs.
For larger repairs and for new wallboard installations, try using one of the new lightweight readymixed compounds, such as Sheetrock Lightweight All Purpose Joint Compound (also called Plus 3) from United States Gypsum company.
