Pehrson plays

in Charlottesville

Dinah Pehrson-Day of Sperry ville plays the part of Rita in “A Girl’s Guide to Chaos,” which opened on April 15 at Live Arts in Charlottesville. This uproarious comedy, written by Cynthia Heimel, is presented by the Live Arts Theatre Ensemble (L.A.T.E.).

Cynthia Heimel is a delightful neo-feminist (someone who views men not as “the problem”, but as part of “the solution”) humorist best known for the hilarious and immortal “Sex Tips for Girls”. Heimel has taken material from that book and put it into the mouths of three characters: Cynthia (Cindy Burke) and her two friends Cleo and Rita (Carol McAvoy and Dinah Pehrson). “These are the times that try a girl’s soul,” begins Cynthia, and then she and her friends proceed to tell us why these times are so trying, and what they are doing to cope with them.

There is still time to see “A Girl’s Guide to Chaos.” The play runs Wednesdays through Saturdays, April 21-24, and April 28-May 1, at 8 p.m. each evening. Limited table seating will be available along with regular theater seating, for snack and dessert service beginning at 7:15 p.m.

Advance tickets are available at the Live Arts Box Office at Daedalus Bookshop, Williams Comer Bookstore, Plan 9 Records and Disctraxshuns, all in Charlottesville. Tickets are $8 general admission, and $6 for Live Arts members. Wednesdays, April 21 and 28 are special Tax Bite Nites: admission is $5 general and $4 members.

Live Arts is located in the Old Michie Building, 609 E. Market Street, in downtown Charlottesville (across from the downtown parking garage). For more information, call the theatre (804) 977-4177 or box office (804) 293-7595. This play is recommended for mature audiences only.
