Honor Society
held induction
On March 11, the Rappahannock County High School Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 1993 induction for new members.
Parents and students were welcomed by Club President Rachel Atkins. Member Laura Pendleton then introduced speaker Jon Heddleston, an English teacher at R.C.H.S.. Vice Principal Larry Carter was unable to speak due to illness.
After an excellent speech by Mr. Heddleston, the induction ceremony began. The five qualities for membership were defined. Rachel Atkins spoke on Knowledge, Vice-President Lori Paratore discussed Scholarship, Secretary Bonnie Jewell talked about Leadership, Treasurer James Stone explained Character, and member Melanie Moffett addressed Service. The inductees then took the N.H.S. pledge and were presented with their certificates. Pins were also awarded to members of one year or more. < The ceremony was closed by Rachel Atkins and was followed by a reception courtesy of the National Honor Society.
New inductees inlcude senior Alice Reeve, juniors Tracy Hitt and Steve Ralls, and sophomores Jessica Arnold, Stephanie Atkins, Emmy Bailey, Paul Brown, Derek Daczewitz, Justin Day, Shannon Eastham, Karen Moore, Veronica Myers, J.T. Oliver, David Pierce, Jason Settle, Johanna Tole, and Luke Zindel.
The ceremony was also attended by N.H.S. Sponsor Mrs. Frieda Herman and members Leah Marie tt, Tucker Rogers, and Shannon Walter.
