The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, met on April 13, at the Little Fork Episcopal Church in Rixeyville for its meeting, and a luncheon served by the women of the church. The Regent, Mrs. Thomas Eastham, opended the meeting, welcoming members to the Little Fork Church.
The Rector of the church. Rev. John Desaulniers, introduced by Mrs. James Woodruff Kearns, gave the history of the church since the congregation was established in 1730 as St. Marks Parish, It started as a “chapel of ease”, as ordered by Gov. Spotswood, as a place for travelers to rest for their morning or evening prayers. After twice being burned, the church was rebuilt of brick in 1776. Up until then all persons were members of the Church of England by order of the king and forced to tithe but the Revolution changed that and in 1789 the church became a part of the Episcopal Church of the Untied States.
