Home buyers today have a relatively unknown resource available to them that can make purchasing the house of their dreams a reality. Called energyefficient mortgages (EEMs) by lending agencies, these mortgages enable buyers of energy-efficient homes to buy more house for their money, according to the Edison Electric Institute and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, two national electric utility trade associations.
