In a three-way meet with George Mason and Manassas Park at Manassas Park last Wednesday, the Rappahannock boys team finished second and the girls team finished third. Rappahannock team members came away with three first place finishes, eight second place finishes and nine third place finishes.
Jason Waters came in first in the |two-mile run and the high jump. Alice Reeve got first place in the discus.
Second place awards were won ;by John Mallory and Terra Hudson■pillar in the long jump, Jason Settle in the high jump, Alice Reeve in the shot put, Jessica Arnold in the mile ’run, Willie Shanks in the 110-meter flash, Jessica Arnold in the 800-meter run, Willie Shanks in the 200-meter run, Randy Early, Jason Waters, Mike Grimsley, and Chris Payne in the 4x400 relay, and Willie Shanks, John Mallory, Jason Settle and Mike Gilkey in the 4 x 100 relay.
Third place awards went to Terra Hudsonpillar in the tripple jump, Jessica Jacobs in the shot put, Margarita Cortez in the discus, Amber Early and Jacob Butler in the 110 hurdles, Mike Grimsley in the two-mile run, Mark Jenkins in the mile run, Randy Early in the 400meter run, Shannon Eastham in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and Chris Payne in the 800-meter run.
Generals roll
That same Wednesday the baseball team suffered an overwhelming loss to Stonewall Jackson at home. For two scoreless innings the Rappahannock players held their own, but in the top of the third inning Stonewall opened up a six-run barrage. The final score was 13 to 0. Stonewall got 13 runs on 15 hits and five Rappahannock errors. The Rappahannock squad had only one hit. No errors were recorded against Stonewall.
Booters fall to RMA
Thursday the soccer team travelled to Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal and lost 3 to 0. Coach Uli Maeyer said his team played better than it had against the Madison squad earlier in t'he week. He said his team also won on sportsmanship.
Rain wins again
Baseball, softball and soccer games scheduled for Friday were cancelled because of rain. Baseball and softball games scheduled for Saturday were also cancelled because of Friday’s rain. The baseball and softball games against Brentsville at Brentsville last Friday were reschuduled for April 29. The home soccer game against Brentsville was rescheduled for May 17.
The Saturday home games in baseball and softball against Strasburg have not been rescheduled.
