forth her ideas about the rental policy. He also read letters from Page Anne Smith, President of RAAC, Mi trie and Bill Young, and Diana and Lee Bird, all supporting the idea of the Town Hall being rented for public uses.
Town resident Frank Scott of Heritage House B & B spoke next. He said, “I would like to have small seminars and meetings here. I think the number of 90 (as the maximum number of people allowed) would be more logical than 70.”
Local realtor Eileen Day said, "I was surprised about the problems with this. How do you arrive at the number of 35?”
Mayor Morehouse responded, ‘That number goes along with the fire code.” /
Ms. Day remarked, “All the years it was used it was not a problem. I would like to see a broader t use. I think the Town Council should have the final say regarding alcoholic beverages.”
Town resident Fran Eldred noted, “I would like to see the original policy adopted. I think it should be at the Town Council’s discretion to okay the alcohol based on the application. There are almost 35 people here tonight and it.is not a crowd.”
Phyllis Marriott, proprietor of the Foster-Harris House in town, said that the town should demand a hefty deposit when renting out the hall.
Mr. Scott added, “You might need a schedule of fees for different events.” 1
Page Smith, president of RAAC, spoke next, saying, “I really did appreciate using the building. We did like having candles, and I think you should leave it up to the Town Council to decide what is allowed for each event. I urge you to have a waiver when non-profit groups ask for it.”
Dan Lewis added, “I was at Waldron O’Connor’s birthday party and the RAAC coffeehouse here. It was not crowded. I would like the hours
