8. Communcation will be individual as often as possible. Reprimands will be made privately with children in the same way that good supervisors reprimand their staff in private.

In other words, children will be treated as we expect them to treat us. Behavior that is not allowed by children should not be allowed by adults. This will begin our teaching by modeling.
One way to teach by rewarding would be grade-level weekly assemblies that would be used to highlight outstanding achievements. These achievements might be in the area of academics (the highest math teat grade, the spelling bee winner, the highest science test grade); in sports (the fastest mile time, the most situps, a home run in kickball, etc.); in creativity (the best social studies project, the most interesting play, the most creative rap song, the greatest idea about a solution); and in good citizenship (helping a classmate up after a playground fall, returning lost money, helping a fellow student with a problem, opening a door for a teacher, keeping control in a volatile situation).
