Now that our curiosity about Laurie Marshall is piqued, more is revealed by her written composition accompanying the show, “Stories from the Dust in thi^ Comer. ” She writes, “The title comes from the fact that ultimately, after a short and precious time, we are united by a relentless transformation into dust. The portraits are painted and the stories told to extend the love of these lives beyond the dust.” The following stories are fascinating accounts of the lives of her subjects which are depicted with love and warmth and leave the viewer with the feeling that he has had an intimate view into the lives of local people and into the life of the painter herself.
