.Both candidates for mayor of the >/ Town of Washington were interviewed this past week.

When asked if the town of Washington needs a sewer system, the present mayor, Dean Morehouse, responded, “I definitely think we need to assess this. The town does have sewage problems. I have a few grant applications for studies to do this. I hope to use community block grant funds to do it. A sewer project would be much like the water project. With the cooperation of the Council, we can assess and implement a program that comprehensively addresses this critical need. We need to plan, identify the problem, cost the problem and look for the funding. I am not thinking of a septic system; I am thinking of more of a passive system. Maybe we can get Health Department approval to do a regional drainfield for the town.”
