Girls Sought The Washington Volunteer Fire Department is seeking girls four years and up to run for Ms. Independence and Little Ms. 4th of July. The girl in each category that sells the most raffle tickets will be crowned before the fireworks. To sign up and receive raffle tickets call 675-3844 or 675-3615.

May Day at Spring Mountain i Come celebrate May Day, Sunday, May 1 at Spring Mountain School in Washington, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be live music, storytelling, and lots and lots of high-quality food. Benefit Dinner Planned The Jeffereonton Community Center will be holding a country ham dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on April 23. The menu will include country ham, fried apples, potatoes, green beans, biscuits, desserts, tea and coffee. The cost will be adults $6.95, children $3.95. Also offered will be hot dogs for childrens menu for $2.50.
