He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1985, and worked as a herdsman in Montgomery County, Virginia, managing a feed lot and cow-calf operation. Having grown up on a small cattle farm in Grayson County, Mr. Love has always been extremely interested in agriculture and natural resources.
Last week was his first on the job, and most of his time so far has been spent in orientation, going through mail, and basically familiarizing himself with the extension office.
He said that he worked with a lot of the same clients in the agricultural community in his last job that he will be working with in his job as extension agent. His job will be split, working about half his time with the agricultural community and half with 4-H duties, which he shares with Helen Smith. Many volunteers also help out with 4-H, which he said is appreciated a great deal.
