• Exchange information with the other drivers involved. Include names of all drivers and passengers, addresses, license numbers, insurance companies, and other pertinent information. If there are witnesses, get their names and addresses, too.
• Make a rough sketch of the accident scene, indicating the direction of travel of each vehicle, where they were struck, and any physical barriers, etc., that may have been involved. Also note the position in the cars of all occupants. Record all times related to the accident.
• Report the accident to the police. If total damage is $1000 or more, or if there is any personal injmy, Virginia law requiers that a police report be made and filed. Your insurance agent will probably need a copy of the police report, anyway.
• Find out where your damaged vehicle will be taken and stored. Reemove personal property from the car and take it with you. Determine what towing or storage costs may be incurred, and and notify your ... insurance agent. ”*•• •
