A planting of shrubs or small* trees is often located around the house to soften hard architectural features, helping them blend with the landscape. This is particularly effective is used where vertical lines, of the building meet the ground atcomers and doorways. I
A continuous planting will reduce the apparent height of a tall house. However, a low house, without an exposed foundation, will look larger and more impressive if the shrub planting is not continous, and ground covers are used in one or two places between the comer and the front door.
