Here we are at the end of October and winter is right around the comer.
Winter, for the local Volunteer Fire Departments means chimney fire, and unfortunately, structural fire season. Each year there are many structural-fire related deaths. Having a charged and ready smoke detector/alarm could result in fewer deaths.
This weekend is the weekend we change our clocks. With changing our clocks, this is also a good time to change the batteries in our smoke detector/alarms.
If you don’t have a smoke detector/alarm, now is a good time to buy one. They can be purchased at just about any department store at prices as low as $5. That is a small price to pay for such a life saving object.
It is also a good idea to test your smoke detector/alarm at least once a month, and it doesn’t hurt the run the vacum over them to get the dust out either.
