According to statistics from the National Safety Council, one driver in eight will be involved in a motor vehicle accident this year.
Unfortunately, accidents are a fact of life when venturing out on the highway. But whether a minor “fender bender” or major catrastrophe, we all need to know what to do if we are involved in an accident.
Because a traffic accident is by definition an upsetting occurance, it is helpful for driovers to prepare themselves by keeping in mind the following suggestions, which will help relieve some of the stress:
• Move your vehicle well off the road, if it is safe to operate and will not complicate the accident investigation. Make sure that children and other passengers are kept away from the road, broken glass, and other hazards if they can’t stay in the car.
• Find out if anyone involved in the accident needs medical attention or evacuation. Call the police or emergency medical services.
