RCHS’s cross country team placed a respectable fifth in the Bull Run District meet held near Stonewall-Jackson last Wednesday.
Of the eight members of the team who had qualified to compete in the meet, Mark Jenkins and Caroline Baumgardner placed high enough to be named to the All Bull Run District team. They will compete at the regionals which will be held in Charlottesville on Nov. 2.
Mark finished ninth with a time of 16:57:30, and Caroline was 14th with a time of 21:58:94. Eddie Sause came in 20th at 17:50:46; Jeff Atkins came in 33rd with a time of 18:36:62; R.J. White was 43rd with a time of 19:15:40; Mike Wolfe was 44th with a time of 19:24:69; Jason Brown was 55th with a time of 20:50:87, and Ray Atkins was 57th at 21:06:25.
Coach David van de Graaff said that Eddie had a “side stitch,” a sharp pain in the side, that kept him from finishing with a faster time.
For the first time this season, RCHS beat Page, and did so by 20 points. In the meet, RCHS had 149 points and Page had 169. Central won with 20 points; Strasburg had
