the Sperryville Emporium was broken into between 6 p.m. Wednesday night and 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Sheriff Woodward said. He said thieves took $100 worth of coins, $100 worth of beef jerky, 87 knives and six cartons of Marlboro cigarettes together valued at $355. The knives included “defensive knife sticks, bone handled knives, hunting knives, knives with lock blades and Swiss army knives,” he said.

As far as anyone knows none of these materials has turned up at the school, but Sheriff Woodward said his department believes the thieves were probably juveniles. He said he would welcome information from anyone in the community about that incident.
