Shenandoah National Park Superintendent Bill Wade invites area citizens to a day-long seminar on water quality to be hosted by the park on Saturday, June 1.
This is the second in a series of Shenandoah Field Study Seminars being held in 1996.
“Many people appreciate Shenandoah National Park for its scenic views and recreational opportunities. Not everyone realizes that three of Virginia’s nine watersheds have their origin in this park,” said Supt. Wade. “This is one reason thepark protects and monitors water quality within the park boundary,” he continued.
The seminar Will provide a firsthand look at what the park does to minimize impacts on water quality. Participants will study life in a mountain stream and leam about the relationship between this and water quality. With this information, they will be able to test the water quality of any stream.
