" "For the second year in a row, The Flint Hill Public House was a sponsor of The American Institute of Wine & Food’s Rare Wine Auction held at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. on May 11.
Owners Denise and John Pearson donated a “lifestyle” package for the live auction, and their cuisine was featured in the First Course Reception served to all auction guests before the bidding began. “We support the AIWF and feel honored to be a part of this prestigious national fund raiser. The Rare Wine Auction is a one-of-akind event in Washington,” said Mr. Pearson.
The lifestyle package donated by the Public House includes dinner, an overnight stay and a champagne breakfast for two couples.
On the night of the auctioh, guests bad a glimpse of the food at the Public House during the First Course Reception featuring several local AIWF member restaurants. John and Denise served Oysters in Buckwheat Pastry, Seared Pork Tenderloins on Roasted Garlic Biscuits with Apple Rosemary Mayonnaise and Stilton Shortbread with Currant Chutney.
The Public House was one of only five Virginia restaurants to receive a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 1995. Their wine list was recognized for offering quality selections across the board, which complement the cuisine and are well organized and designed. The wine list at the Public House is dedicated to Virginia viticulture, showcasing over 40 selections of Virginia wines, alpng with an impressive variety of wines from California, the Pacific Northwest, France and Italy.
