Officials of Belle Grove Plantation have announced plans for the museum’s first multi-day Antiques Symposium to be held May 24-26.
The Symposium will present five nationally-recognized speakers. Belle Grove, one of 18 historic sites owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is located one mile south of Middletown.
The Symposium, which is being partially underwritten by a generous grant from the Glass-Glen Bumie Foundation of Winchester will focus on die collections of the late Julian Wood Glass, Jr., from which representative pieces are now on exhibition at.the Kurtz Cultural Center in Winchester. The Symposium’s first event will be a reception at Belle GrcJVe on Friday which will provide registrants an informal opportunity to meet the speakers. • Saturday’s lectures will be presented in the auditorium of Winchester’s Handley Library. Luke BeCkerdite, Executive Director of The Chipstone Foundation, Milwaukee, WI and David Bull, Chairman of the Painting Conservation Department of the National Gallery of Art will speak in the morning.
