He knew he was going to marry Virginia Vass the day he met her. It took her a couple of years to be sure. She was still working with her family when she and Mr. Scott were married in Yuma, Ariz. Why Yuma? That’s “Show Biz.’r
Aside from minor separations caused by professional theatrical tours and World War II, the Scott have always been an active and happy team. They produced one child, a talented professional artist named Peter.
After Mr. Scott retired from a career in industry and government the Scotts moved to beautiful Rappahannock County in 1989 where they have kept busy in a variety of community activities.
Both are enrolled as Retired Senior Volunteers. Mrs. Scott is currently volunteering at Family Care Hospice in Culpeper. She telephones people who have lost loved ones and attends meetings and training sessions. She also volunteers at Rappahannock County Elementary School each week where she sings and teaches her favorite southern folk songs to the first grade children. She often goes in for their “snack time” bringing extra snacks, and she is a “foster grandmother” for one special youngster, in particular.
