Last year, the agency delivered 51,840 meals to 383 frail elderly in their homes and provided 40,000 hours of in-home care to 141 elders who are at risk of institutionalization. Another 19,914 meals were provided to 247 individuals at 5 nutrition sites and senior centers in the area.
Over 30 percent of the elderly cannot drive to the doctor or the grocery store, so the RappahannockRapidan Community Services Board provided 136,000 miles of transportation. In addition, the agency provided 41,532 hours of volunteer services to older persons, and individual advocacy and problem solving assistance to 375 elders and their families.
