Here is a new one for the make<16 annals at Rappahannock County High School: making the girls’ and boys’ locker rooms double as weighttraining rooms.
“Right now, that’s the only thing we can figure out that will work,” says Mike Tupper, RCHS Athletic Director. “The coaches are real anxious to get some weight-training started. Most schools have it, and we need it.”
Given the fact that every square yard of RCHS is now occupied, the locker rooms seem like the only possibility. Then there is the problem of equipment.
Mr. Tupper is appealing to people who have “free weights lying around their basements” to bring them to the school. He prefers free weights to Universal or Nautilus equipment because the latter require maintenance, and the school has no funds for. that.
