The Theatre at Washington will extend its spring season in order to present an outstanding dramatic production, Talking Heads, by famed British playwright Alan Bennett. There will be two performances, on Saturday, June 8 at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, June 9 at 4 p.m.
Mr. Bennett is probably best known in this country just now because he wrote the play The Madness of George III and the screenplay for the film version. But his success began in the early 60s, when, along with Dudley Moore, Peter Cook, and Jonathan Miller, he wrote and performed in the review Beyond the Fringe.
Theatre manager, Wendy Weinberg, says “Bennett’s delicately humorous empathy with characters who manage at the same time to be both eccentric and very ordinary has long made him my favorite contemporary English playwright.”
Mrs. Weinberg says that she had been hoping to bring the Talking Heads to the Theatre at Washington since first seeing them on BBC TV in the early 90s, and is pleased to have
