She was bom May 12, 1905, in Culpeper County a daughter of the late Mason Hillary and Lillie Bragg Hitt.
She was a homemaker all of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years Walter C. Holmes of Amissville, two daughters and their husbands; Christine and Lewis Judd and Kathryn and Virgil Corbin, all of Amissville; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 19 at Amissville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy B. White officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Silas Jolliffe
Silas Lillard Jolliffe, 71, of Amissville, died on Friday, May 17 at his residence.
He was bom in Culpeper County on Dec. 24, 1924, to the late Richard Edwin Jolliffe and Pearl Settle Jolliffe.
Mr. Jolliffe served in World War in the Battle of the Bulge and as a paratrooper in the Invasion of Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was an avid fox hunter and a member of the Northern Virginia Fox Hunters Association.
Mr. Jolliffe is survived by his wife of 24 years Katy Lytton Jolliffe; two sons, Larry Jolliffe and Barry Jolliffe of Amissville; two stepsons, Frank Palmer of Lynchburg and
