In Darrow Kirkpatrick’s class, “Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills,” he recommended people look at their career goals before looking for a job. Ask yourself where you want to be in a certain number of years, he said.

On a resume, he stated that the most important information should be first.

He said that several books are available in the library to help jobseekers, including “The Jobs Rated Almanac.”

Mr. Kirkpatrick, who is a retired Navy engineer and moved to the county five years ago, has volunteered to teach a life skills class to high schoolers next year.

At a gathering for refreshments in the school library after the classes, everyone had positive comments for the adult ed‘classes. Elbe Clark, who took the law and Spanish classes, said thdt the whole evening was great fun.

All 25 to 30 students who attended the classes were handed a survey to return to Mrs. Makela at the end of the evening. Students were asked to list three courses that they would like to see offered.

The most requested class was Computer Skills, with 12 listing this class. The next most popular request "was for Spanish and other foreign language i classes, followed by Investments and Stocks, How to Start a Business and Survive, and Resume and Interviewing Skills.
