Prizes Galore
To the Editor:
I extend my thanks to the hundreds of people who supported the local observance of National TVTumoff Week, April 24-30.
At week’s end, 270 local children and adults turned in pledge cards attesting to their success in spending the week without TV or videos.
Thanks to the generosity of area merchants, our drawing of prizes yielded something for almost half of the participants.
Major donors included:
• Belle Meade Day Camp, a certificate for eight people to spend a summer afternoon relaxing by the camp pool: to Gretchen and Mark Long’s family.
• Skyline Caverns, a pass for four visitors: to the family of RCES student Samantha Smoot.
• Faith Mountain, a $25 gift certificate: to Linda Welk.
• Rush River Gallery, a $30 photo of a Rappahannock scene: to Ron Makela.
• Wal-Mart, $20 certificate: to Carla M. Keyser.
