Registration Underway
The Rappahannock Athletic Association (RAA) is now accepting registrations for the Senior Babe Ruth League, ages 16-18. For additional information or registration, contact Richard Pentecost at 937-5975.
Dance Scheduled
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a dance from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 25. Southern Persuasion will be performing. For more information call Sheila Scott at 937-4357. '
Contestants Sought
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department is seeking girls between the ages of 8 and 13 for Miss Independence and between the ages of 14 and 18 for Miss 4th of July for their annual event Area girls that are interested in either of these titles should contact Gary Jenkins at 987-8426.
Contestants will be selling raffle tickets to benefit the Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department in their efforts to purchase a new fire truck. Winning tickets will be drawn on July 4 at the evening ceremonies before the fireworks. First and second prizes this year'will be a 500 pound steer donated by Mike Massie: third prize is $250 cash donated by B & B Service Center, fourth prize is dinner for two donated by The Inn and fifth prize will be a $50 gift certificate donated by Rare Finds.

Spring Fundraiser Planned
The WBRB Ministers and Deacons Union Scholarship Committee will be holding its Arts and Crafts Spring Fundraiser at the Sperryville Emporium, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. Crafters are needed. In addition, those interested in giving “how-to” demonstrations for leather goods, ceramics, glassblowing, woodworking, candlemaking, quilting, dollmaking, canning, etc. are encouraged to participate. Auction Scheduled
The annual auction of rare treasures by the Amissville Ruritan Club will be at 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 14 at Stuart Field at the Ruritan Grounds. Call Charlie Preist at 937-4072, Charlie Mills at 937-6134, Butch Zindel at 675-1190 or Fred and Jane Naramore at 937-5367 for pick up of donated items.
Proceeds will be used for interiot finishing of the Community Building at Stuart Field. Please donate unwanted items and please attend the auction. All monies taken in by the Ruritans are returned to the community through various community projects.
