other options open for reworking the highway in that area that should be looked at. He also said he felt a traffic lffeht would be needed to control the turn lane traffic for the proposed project.
Marc Malik, president of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection said the organization feels a traffic increase of the U.S. 522 corridor would be bad for the county.
John Kirchner, of Woodville, said he hoped the board would suspend their decision on the project resolution until the letters survey by VDOT is complete.
Bob Moore, VDOT resident engineer, made follow up comments to the board. He said statistics prove an additional turn lane at the intersection would better help traffic flow and help with pedestrian traffic in the area.
He said thebe'is no jndfca*5 tion that truck traffic in the area would increase. “VDOT fe§ls it’s a needed improvement and recommends moving ahead with the project," he said. He added that VDOT would work with residents on the design for the project.
The board passed the resolution unanimously.
