I firmly believe that there
exists a sport for everyone, from simple walking to the more demanding sports. Physical activity is essential for good health and is a necessary part of a well-rounded school curriculum.
Children who are so busy with sports as well as academics don’t have much extra time in their lives to feel bored and/or to look for trouble. Minimally, being a team member boosts self esteem, provides social interaction, develops school/community pride, and teaches many of life’s lessons that are foundations for a health and successful adulthood.
I would like to see Rappahannock County achieve athletic excellence at both Rappahannock County Elementary School and Rappahannock County High School. In general, we need to set goals with input from all community members and then develop a master plan, with the help of an expert in the planning field, who sees the forest first and then the trees.
