Richard “Mike” E. O’Shaughnessy (USAF, Ret.), 68, of Amissville, died on Sept. 30.
Mr. O’Shaughnessy was bom on March 23, 1929 to the late George and Constance O’Shaughnessy in Evanston, 111.
He was a 1947 graduate of St. Bede Academy in Peru, 111. and retired as Senior Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1969.
He enjoyed a successful career as a civil servant working in the Washington, D.C. area.
He was a devout parishioner of Precious Blood Catholic Church, in Culpeper and was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. O’Shaughnessy was most happy when he was at home on his “Gentleman’s Farm” in rural Virginia surrounded by family, friends and a hot barbecue grill. His autumn years were joyous and loving.
Mr. O’Shaughnessy is survived by his wife of 44 years Mary M. O’Shaughnessy of Amissville; two sons Richard E. O’Shaughnessy Jr. of Rockville, Md., and Timothy O’Shaughnessy of Virginia Beach and a daughter Leslie Bremigan of Amissville; grandchildren Mary C., Dawn and Robbie Bremigan, Patrick and Kevin O’Shaughnessy and Katie ' Lynn O’Shaughnessy and great-grandson Jordan Meadows.
