Charlie Compton, who served patrons of Rural Route 1, Amissville, for 31 years, has retired. Voters who have not already done so are reminded that Saturday, Oct. 7 is the last day on which you may register to vote in the November election. The State Department of Education has announced approval of projects costing $318,502 for educationally disadvantaged children during the 1972-73 school year in the counties of Warren, Shenandoah, Rappahannock, and Frederick and the City of Winchester.
