twice each year at the middle school level. This is the first time the orchestra has directed its efforts to elementary school students.
In preparation for the opportunity to attend a live performance, participants are being provided background information on the music, literature, history and geography related to the program.
Teachers will have access to several children’s versions of the Cervantes story as well as tapes of a public television broadcast based on this same material. Detailed instruction for related student projects, such as puppet-making, are also being circulated.

“Master Peter’s Puppet Show” runs only about 40 minutes. Three singers, a puppeteer, a helper and a small group of players representing the village audience will be on stage accompanied by 21 orchestra members.
The role of helper will be filled by a student in each school performance. The onstage “audience” will be played by teachers in costume. The
