achieve their academic best. More and more students are on the honor roll each year. Raines encouraged me through my junior year and continues to do so. Whenever I’ve needed help with a course, he has seen that I’ve received it. When I achieve high marks, he praises me. When I screw up, he straightens me out.
The standard contemporary impression of a princi- * pal is “the enemy.” I just can’t see him as that. In getting to the point of this dissertation — thank you Mr. Raines, for making my high school years a positive experience.
